Congregate meals create an opportunity to socialize and enjoy a well-balanced meal with other people.

Hot noon meals are served in Hastings five days a week at the Golden Friendship Center, 509 S. Bellevue, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Programs often accompany these meals and begin at 11:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted.

Seniors wishing to participate in the center meal program must make reservations by 2:30 p.m. the day before the meal, or on Fridays for the next Monday. Reservations can be made by calling 402-463-4439. A minimum donation of $5 at all sites is suggested to help defray a portion of the actual meal cost.

GFC is fortunate to be one of few centers that offers a salad bar with some of its meals. (The salad bar is only offered on the noted days.) This one trip through salad bar consists of a variety of salads, puddings, pickles, fruits, vegetables, lettuce and dressings. A 10-ounce mug of coffee and one refill will be provided for our coffee drinkers during the meal. Meals include an 8-oz. glass of milk if desired. Meals can be paid for on a daily basis or meal tickets are available for purchase.
