Meets the second Wednesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. Meetings are planned for:

is Labor Day; make your meal reservations on Friday, September 1, for the following Tuesday.
On these days, there are no meals or activities. The ACSS Office and the Golden Friendship Center will be CLOSED.


FLU SHOTS
It is said that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and ACSS wants to help you in your pursuit of wellness. A Flu Shot Clinic will be held at the Golden Friendship Center on Wednesday, October 11. A Pharmacist from Walgreens will be available from 10:30 a.m. through noon in the office formerly used by R.Y.D.E. No pre-registration is necessary, just be sure to bring your Medicare or Health Insurance card. Remember, you will not receive a flu vaccination if you don't bring your Proof of Insurance.


PRESCRIPTION DRUG INSURANCE ENROLLMENT
volunteers Karen Ganskow, Kathy Gruba, Pat Hughes, Virginia Locke and Ann McMickell will assist seniors to enroll in Part D Prescription Drug Insurance this year.
Appointments at the Golden Friendship Center can be scheduled between 8:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on the following dates:
•October 16-20
•October 23-27
•October 30-November 3
•November 6-10
•November 13-17
•November 20-22
•November 27-December 1
•December 4-7

You will need to bring your red, white, and blue MEDICARE CARD and a list of your prescription drugs with dosages (better yet, bring your prescription drug containers) to your appointment. Allow 1.5 hours to enroll per individual. ACSS will begin scheduling appointments no sooner than October 2. Call Kathy at 402-463-4439 to book an appointment.


UPCOMING PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
August 21: ACSS will be celebrating the solar eclipse. After lunch, Program Manager, DeNeeta, will provide participants with the special glasses needed to view the eclipse safely. After viewing the eclipse, there will be a social hour with a special treat.
August 25: Banana Split Day. Come for lunch and be treated to a banana split for dessert!
September 6: Will Locke will present "The 600 mile journey of Standing Bear."
September 8: Grandparents' Day Dinner. Submit your grandchildren's pictures before August 20 to be put on a power point presentation, which will be shown that day.
September 15: Adams County Historical Society's annual cemetery walk will start at approximately 5:45 p.m. Participants should be able to walk unassisted on uneven ground, from gravesite to gravesite. Once at the gravesites, there will be seating available. Participants must pre-register for the walk. There is a $12 fee. Call 402-463-4439 to pre-register.
October 5: Fall Bingo & Pie Social Open House. Come get to know your Senior Center and meet new friends!
October 12: Nebraska Humanities #1 requested speaker Jeff Barnes presents "A bad man in a better place…Jesse James in Nebraska."
